In light that trending higher oil prices will cause the need for the huge tide for replacement of civil aircraft which will demand more composite components in the coming 20 years, on April 21, 2015, the Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of its second high technology composites plant “TACC-19” dedicated to the manufacturing specialized composites for the Airbus A320 single-aisle components and more.
AIDC Chairman Liao pointed out that AIDC in recent years has received significant composite component orders from several leading international aerospace companies such as Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier Aerospace, Sikorsky Aircraft, to mention only a few. The composites manufacturing workload far exceeds the capacity of AIDC's first TACC (Taiwan Advanced Composite Center). Additionally in July 2014, AIDC was awarded an Airbus composite components order for the Aft Belly Fairing for its A320 aircraft family. As result, AIDC had to re-structure its existing plant #19 to accommodate the increase in composite manufacturing requirements.
Chairman Liao further expressed that the establishment of the TACC-19 plant and its machinery and tooling will take approximately a period of 14 months to secure, and start its operation and production in the second quarter of 2016, dedicated to the manufacturing composite components for Airbus for the present and future. For the future, AIDC remains committed to satisfying Taiwan's self-reliant defense goals for a stronger national security, and to the development of the aerospace industry as well as to boost of the economic growth with the vision to become the first rate aerospace and technologies enterprise.
