2015/11/12

The Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) developed by Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation (MITAC) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) made a successful first flight on November 11th, 2015. AIDC Chairman Anson Liao witnessed this historic milestone expressed that AIDC is proud to be a partner of the MRJ program and extended congratulations on the great success.

AIDC joined the MRJ development program in 2008, responsible for the design, testing, manufacture and production of the composite control surfaces and belly fairing. Through this program, AIDC has upgraded its composite capability in the design and manufacture of large parts and tooling and by working with the top Japanese aviation engineers for the past 7 years firmly establishing its reputation as an advanced aerospace company.

The MRJ successfully took off into the sky at 09:35 and confirmed its basic characteristics and functionality in ascent, descent and turning in airspace off the Pacific coast during its 1.5-hour first flight and landed at 11:02. The MRJ will come in 90-seat and 70-seat versions, and is considered by many to be the best in its class. Efforts are made to obtain type certification for the first delivery scheduled for 2017.
