AIDC Conducted A-Team 4.0 Seminars on March 7 for Material Suppliers and Transportation Providers

2016/3/7
AIDC conducted its first two sessions of A-Team 4.0 seminar on March 7, 2016 at its Shiang-yuen Training Center. The two sessions were designated respectively for material suppliers and transportation providers. The A-Team campaign was initiated by AIDC Chairman Anson Liao, who proposed the idea during the 2015 Taipei Air Show. Chairman Liao proposed to team up the domestic aerospace suppliers in an effort to exploit the global 5 trillion US dollars worth of aviation business in the next 20 years by practicing the spirit of “Lean to be Competitive.”

According to the plan, AIDC will conduct 9 seminars in Taipei, Taichung, and Kang-shan to communicate the A-Team 4.0 concept with related industries and their members during March 7th – 17th, 2016. The interested businesses and associations who wish to participate in the seminar are divided into different subgroups by functions of; material supply, machine centers, aerostructures, engine parts and components, transportation, and academia.

Chairman Liao elaborated that the A-Team 4.0 was meant to create a collaborative team from the industry to enlarge the collective strength and increase the power of competitiveness as a whole. It would require cooperation and commitment from all of its team members. With near-term, mid-term, and long-term roadmaps in mind, AIDC would assist suppliers and service providers to equip them to comply with international aviation standards and requirements, and to eventually become a qualified aerospace supplier.

Just to name a few; the China Steel Corp. has expressed its strong desire to become a qualified supplier while they are expecting to receive the AS-9100 certification by the end of 2016. Also AIDC and Formosa Plastics are working closely on the subject of how to qualify Formosa Plastics as an aerospace composite material supplier.

In addition to the 9 seminars, AIDC has a questionnaire on its website (http://rdshow.aidc.com.tw/ateam40) to collect supplier comments and recommendations. Such recommendations will be incorporated as part of the membership evaluation. The questionnaire is available online until March 20, 2016 with the A-Team 4.0 expected to be officially organized by the end of Q2 this year.
