During a visit to GE Aviation, Cincinnati, Ohio, on 17 October 2016, AIDC signed a MOA with GE Aviation to increase AIDC’s volume and share on the LEAP engine parts for the period from 2016 through 2020. Senior V.P. Paul Ho, signed the Long Term Agreement on behalf of AIDC. In addition, AIDC was awarded contracts for new LEAP and LM9000 parts for years 2017-2022.
GE Aviation is a leading global engine manufacturer and stands firmly as the first class manufacturer in the commercial aircraft engine market. From 1997, AIDC has secured numerous orders for engine OEM manufacturing. On top of that, AIDC has also launched new business for next generation engine components. Both parties have established and have enjoyed a strong cooperative and prosperous business relationship through the years.
The LEAP engine is a product of CFM International, a 50-50 joint venture company between GE Aviation and Safran Aircraft Engines. AIDC remains firmly committed to continue both capital investments and to implement process improvements to achieve customers expectations. The signing of the MOA as well as award of contracts not only evidence that AIDC has won our customers’ recognition and confidence, but it also brings about more business opportunities for the domestic supply chain partners.
While Taiwan’s aviation industry has an established presence in the global community, AIDC will continue to enhance its capabilities in; design, development and manufacturing, while aiming to establish a longer and stable cooperative partnerships in tandem to increasing the international competitiveness of Taiwan's domestic aerospace industry.
